God-in-a-white-coat

Here, Toffler goes into an in-depth analysis of the decline of American physicians. He begins by
saying that in the past, the medical profession kept its information closed to outsiders. Today,
however, patients have access to a great amount of knowledge that is available to doctors. He focuses
on this access to information, telling how Americans are now able to watch medical procedures on
television and "collect more information about a specific ailment or treatment than the ordinary doctor
has time to read." He goes on to claim that "as knowledge is redistributed, so, too, is the power based
on it."
