WELCOME
TO
EMAC
Congratulations. You've just taken the first step
toward an exciting education in Electronic Media, Arts, and
Communication at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
EMAC is the hot new degree track toward a BS in Communication at Rensselaer.
Other nodes in this web site give more information about the courses we offer and
our faculty. With this letter, we hope to answer some of the questions that
students commonly ask when they consider our program and Rensselaer.
Interdisciplinary
Opportunities
EMAC students will take courses in the Language Literature and Communication (LL&C) and Arts (iEAR) departments. This unique, interdisciplinary approach provides students with complete access to both departments' faculty and state-of-the-art computer facilities. The future will not respect conventional boundaries and EMAC students need to be prepared to meet those changes and work across different fields. This is just the beginning!
The unique combination of art and technology places EMAC ahead of its
time. In the 21st century EMAC graduates will be in high demand by many
industries, including entertainment, information services, media and
advertising. EMAC students will have careers as
Computer Animators, World Wide Web Weavers, Online Content
Developers and Graphic Designers.
Dollars for Scholars
We are committed to making an EMAC education affordable for you and your family. EMAC applicants are automatically considered for LL&C's $20,000 Awards
for Excellence in
Communication and Electronic Media when they apply to
Rensselaer and indicate their interest in EMAC.
And don't forget about RPI scholarships and federal
grants and loans! This year 80 percent of Rensselaer students received
financial aid of some kind. (Your parents will love this part!)
To apply for financial aid,
ask your high school guidance office or a local college for a Financial Aid
Form. Complete and submit this form no later than
February 15. For more information, contact our Financial Aid office
at (518) 276-6813.
Please remember the application deadline is January 1st.
